Developing a Revolutionary Visual Object Intelligence Platform

CynLr has taken a significant leap in enhancing the object handling capabilities of robotic arms by developing an advanced Visual Object Intelligence Platform. This platform is a groundbreaking machine vision solution that integrates computer vision and AI to make industrial robot arms more versatile and adaptable. Co-founded by Gokul NA and Nikhil Ramaswamy in 2019, CynLr focuses on solving global challenges related to part-mating and assembly automation, which are critical in various industries.

Visual Object Intelligence Platform

Visual Object Intelligence Platform is designed to enable robots to comprehend, grasp, and manipulate objects in unpredictable environments. This capability is crucial for industries such as automotive manufacturing, where precision and adaptability are key. Currently in beta testing, CynLr’s technology has already caught the attention of major players like Denso and GM, with ongoing engagements with European part suppliers and other global manufacturers.

A Decade of Problem-Solving in Machine Vision

The journey to develop this Visual Object Intelligence Platform began over a decade ago when the founders worked together at National Instruments (NI). During this time, NA designed more than 40 vision systems and trained over 50 vision engineers, laying the groundwork for CynLr’s innovative approach. Meanwhile, Ramaswamy honed his expertise in emerging technologies such as machine vision, robotics, and industrial automation.

Together, they identified a significant gap in the machine vision market—most companies focused on optical code-reading and object identification, but few addressed the challenges of object manipulation. To fill this void, the founders spent three years consulting with companies worldwide, successfully rolling out 30 different deployments. These experiences led to the creation of their proprietary Visual Object Intelligence Platform, which serves as the foundation for CynLr’s first commercial product.

The Launch of CynLr’s Visual Object Intelligence Platform

The culmination of years of research and development is CynLr’s commercial breakthrough, a dual-arm vision-guided robotic manipulator named CyRo. Powered by the Visual Object Intelligence Platform, CyRo can intuitively grasp and manipulate objects, demonstrating a new level of flexibility and efficiency in robotics.

This innovation was showcased at the Robotics Summit & Expo in Boston, highlighting its potential impact on industries such as manufacturing, warehousing, and even Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

CynLr’s commitment to advancing machine vision technology is further evidenced by the recent opening of their 13,000 sq. ft. research and development hub in Bengaluru, dubbed Cybernetics H.I.V.E. This state-of-the-art facility is equipped with 16 robot research cells, capable of accommodating 25 advanced robots, further pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with the Visual Object Intelligence Platform.

As CynLr continues to innovate, the Visual Object Intelligence Platform is poised to revolutionize how industries approach automation, making robotic arms not just tools, but intelligent partners in production.
